If you like water and a bit of adrenaline, yes: the half-day canyoning trip from Thessaloniki is one of the best-reviewed activities around the mountain, at 5.0 from 324 reviews. It is a very different day from a hike.

Certified instructors lead jumps, slides, pools and abseils in a canyon on the mountain's slopes, with all equipment including shoes, and a photo album afterwards. Pickup is from your hotel in Thessaloniki and the trip lasts about 6 hours. Beginners are welcome; it is not for children under 10 or adults over 70.

Which Mount Olympus tour should you book?

Pick by what you want to reach: Mytikas needs one of the summit trips, the forest and gorge suit the guided walks, and ancient Dion with a waterfall stroll is the classic day trip.
